Want to use GSE (grapefruit seed extract) to kill snails -- what concentration is safe for plants?
While Sluggo and dishes of beer have reduced the snail population in our yard, I do see occasional stragglers. Even one is too many. Have heard of mixing GSE and water in a spray bottle to kill them as I see them. However, not being experienced with GSE, I don't know the appropriate formula that will effectively kill snails yet not harm the plants. They are mostly alyssum, keys of heaven, zinnias, dahlias, carnations, salvia, columbine, calendula, scabiosa, and cosmos. How many drops of GSE to add to a 24 oz spray bottle of water? Thanks!!

I would suggest that if you don't mind sacrificing a few try it out on one plant of each variety. Spray in the cooler part of the day.
Additionally you might want to try placing barriers around your plants using sharp sand, crushed eggshells, and/or bits of hair. Although they won't kill snails and slugs they will repel them.
