Water Pump?

I have a 99' Ram 1500. My mechanic said my water pump was leaking but it wasn't bad. I have recently noticed that when I take a sharp turn or come to a sharp stop at a light my oil pressure drops to zero and my 'check gauges' light pops on but it only lasts for about a second. Then the pressure goes back to normal and the lights dissapear. I was just wondering if this was caused by the water pump or is it a seperate problem?

Your oil is a liquid and if you stop to quickly it will slosh to the front of the pan away from the pickup sensor triggering the light. You should get the water pump fixed or you will have more serious issues in a month or so. I don't know what mechanic would say a leaking water pump isn't bad, it is the way the water is circulated to cool the engine, overheated engines will crack the block or the heads, it can seize the pistons, all of which are not cheap repairs.
